Student Life

Growth through mutual stimulation

At Shizankan, mutual inspiration and stimulation with classmates play a major role in your learning experience. Creating an environment where students learn earnestly, engage in deep discussions, and take on challenges together is the key to meaningful learning.

A typical week

A typical week at Shizenkan has one session on weeday night and two sessions on weekend. In addition, many student take time to work on pre- and post-assignments on the days without lectures.  The table below shows an example of a Shizenkan studnet.

Forums

Shizenkan leverages its extensive networks to bring together corporate executives, entrepreneurs, changemakers, and thought leaders at our forums. These events provide a unique opportunity to engage directly with visionaries driving meaningful change and innovation in society.

Extra-curriucular Activities

Students lead various activities to nurture friendship and to seek further growth opportunities. One example is Culture Day, an annual event where students introduce culture of their home countries.

In addition, as a member of local Nihonbashi community, students, alumni, and faculty/staff members participate in local events in the area, such as the Kanda Festival and the Nihonbashi Bridge Cleaning.

Culture Day celebrates cultural diversity at Shizenkan.

Students join local festivals, which have been held over centuries.

Student Support

A wide range of support is provided to support each student’s growth as a leader. Here we provide examples of available support.

Academic Mentoring
Each student is assigned a faculty member as an academic mentor. Regular meetings are held to reflect on learning progress through the program and to provide opportunities to discuss any academic concerns.

Student Affairs Team
This team provides individualized support for administrative procedures and conducts consultations related to student life.

Student Representatives
Student Representatives are selected from each class through self-nomination or peer nomination. They take initiative to enhance the overall quality of learning for their class. They also hold regular meetings with faculty and staff to coordinate and initiate various activities both inside and outside the classroom.

Peer Support Among Students
One of the hallmarks of learning at Shizankan is the mutual support among students from diverse backgrounds, fostering growth together. This includes the formation of study groups, voluntary study sessions, and initiatives like the Parent Support Group, where students who are parents share their experiences and tips with one another.
