Following the approval from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Graduate School of Leadership and Innovation, Shizenkan University was formally established in August 2017, welcoming the first intake of students the following year.

| Feb 2016 | Incorporated the Foundation for Preparing the Establishment of a Whole Person Leadership Education Institution. |
| May 2016 | Application submitted to MEXT for the establishment of the Graduate School of Leadership & Innovation, Shizenkan University. |
| Oct 2016 | Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Foundation for Preparing the Establishment of a Whole Person Leadership Education Institution and School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL, India). |
| Aug 2017 | Application approved by MEXT for the establishment of the Graduate School of Leadership & Innovation, Shizenkan University. |
| Feb 2018 | MOU signed with IESE Business School (Spain). |
| Aug 2018 | Shizenkan University formally opens, welcoming the first intake of students. |
| Jan 2019 | MOU signed with Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV, Brazil). |
| Oct 2019 | Launch of the Center for Sustainability and Innovation (CSI), which advances research on management practices aimed at achieving a sustainable society through innovation, while providing management education on sustainability issues. |
| May 2020 | Graduation of the first cohort. Established the Shizenkan University Alumni Association. |
| Jan 2021 | Launch of the Future of Capitalism Program with IESE, where MBA students from around the world discuss the future of capitalism from the perspective of business and management leaders. SOIL and FGV join as inaugural member schools. |
| Aug 2021 | MOU signed with Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University, Indonesia). |
| Sept 2021 | Launch of the Japan Program as a platform to discuss and promote Japanese culture and traditions around the world. |
| Feb 2022 | Published Social System Theory for Management Leaders: Structural Problems and Our Future (Shinji Miyadai and Tomoyoshi Noda, published by Kobunsha) as the first in the Shizenkan Lecture Series. |
| Apr 2023 | Accredited as a professional graduate school of management by the Japan University Accreditation Association. |
| May 2023 | Established the Center on Impact Economy in response to the global trend toward impact business and impact finance. |
| Sept 2023 | Established the Shizenkan Negotiation & Leadership Center. |
| Sept 2023 | Published Context Management: Empowering Individuality to Enhance the Quality of Management (Tomoyoshi Noda, published by Kobunsha) as the second in the Shizenkan Lecture Series. |
| Feb 2024 | Established Pan-Asian Business School Network with partner business schools in Asia. |
| Feb 2024 | MOU signed with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Thailand). |
| Feb 2024 | MOU signed with University of Science Malaysia (USM, Malaysia). |
| March 2024 | Established the Shizenkan Center for Liberal Arts and Leadership. |
