Support Shizenkan

Shizenkan was established in 2017, aiming to realize a peaceful and prosperous future by pioneering whole-person management leaders education. Since then, we develop next-generation leaders through our unique education programs and collaborate with partner institutions in Japan and the world to be a catalyst for change in leadership education around the world.

All donations received will directly support Shizenkan’s operations, our research center initiatives, and scholarship funding for our students. Your support makes a meaningful difference, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity.

Donation through “Furusato Nozei” (Hometown Tax Donation System) to Chuo City, Tokyo— Limited to residents living outside of Chuo City —

With approval from Chuo City, Tokyo, where Shizenkan is located, we have established a donation mechanism through the city’s Furusato Nozei program. Donations received will be allocated toward Shizenkan’s operational expenses and scholarship funding, primarily for highly motivated students from underprivileged backgrounds, including international students from emerging economies and social entrepreneurs.

The Furusato Nozei system is available for taxpayers in Japan and allows donors to limit their actual financial burden to 2,000 yen, within an upper limit determined by income and family composition. When you make a Furusato Nozei donation to Chuo City, Tokyo, and designate Shizenkan as the recipient, your contribution will be directed to our institution.

Please note that according to the program regulations, 70% of the donated amount will be granted to Shizenkan, while the remaining 30% will be allocated to Chuo City for administrative expenses. We appreciate your understanding in advance.

To donate, you will need to apply through the portal site “Furusato Choice.” Please follow the procedures outlined below.

Donation through Furusato Choice

Please access “Furusato Choice” through this link and enter the required information. Payment can be made by credit card and other methods.

Deadline: December 31

What you receive from Chuo-Ku, Tokyo:

Regardless of your choice of methods, you will receive the following from the Chuo-Ku.

  • Proof of your donation
  • Thank-you gift (a piece of Furoshiki for donation above 10,000 yen, in case you request)

Procedure for tax deduction:

There are two methods to apply for a tax deduction:

  1. Filing a Final Tax Return (Kakutei Shinkoku)

  2. One-Stop Exception System (For those who do not need to file a tax return)

If you wish to use the “One-Stop Exception System,” please indicate your preference when making your donation through the “Furusato Choice” website. Chuo City will then send you the necessary application documents by post.

Note: Certain conditions apply to the One-Stop Exception System. For more details, please check the Chuo City official website.

Direct Donations to Shizenkan (Other than Furusato Nozei)

For those who reside in Chuo City (and are therefore ineligible for this program) or those who have already reached their annual Furusato Nozei contribution limit, we also accept direct donations to Shizenkan.

Shizenkan University is certified as a “Specified Public Interest Promoting Corporation” and a “Tax Credit Target Corporation.” Direct donations are also eligible for income tax deductions or tax credits through a final tax return.

Donations Using the Designated Recipient Donation System

Corporations and organizations wishing to donate to Shizenkan can utilize the Specified Donation System (受配者指定寄付制度). Donations received will be used to support operational funds of Shizenkan or of specific research centers.

Under this system, donors make contributions to their designated school through the Promotion and Mutual Aid Corporation for Private Schools of Japan (commonly known as “Shigaku Jigyodan”). For corporate donors, this provides significant tax advantages under the Corporate Tax Act: the entire donation amount can be recorded as a tax-deductible expense in the fiscal year when the donation is made.

As illustrated in the table below, this system offers a wider range of tax deductibility compared to other donation methods, such as donations to specified public interest promotion corporations or to other donations.

Designated Recipient Donations The entire donation amount can be recorded as a tax-deductible expense.
Donations to Specified Public Interest Promotion Corporation Up to “(Capital amount × 0.375% + income for the relevant year × 6.25%) × 1/2” can be included as a deductible expense.

Note: The portion of the donation exceeding the deductible limit can be included as a deductible expense up to a certain limit as “other donations” (see below).

Other Donations Up to “(Capital amount × 0.25% + income for the relevant year × 2.5%) × 1/4” can be included as a deductible expense.
