Shizenkan University Response Measures Against the Spread of Coronavirus COVID-19

In order to continue the pursuit of our mission by contributing to society through the “nurturing of socially conscious leaders who possess excellent and creative imagination, passion, and character,” the Graduate School of Leadership and Innovation, Shizenkan University has in response to the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Japan implemented the following measures to ensure the health and safety of university students, faculty and staff, as well as other stakeholders.

 

  1. Transfer the entire educational process to online
  • Since March 2, all educational activities that were previously conducted on campus (lectures, examinations, seminars, students group projects etc.) are carried out remotely to avoid close contact between students and faculty members, and to enable students to participate in classes without going to the Nihonbashi campus.
  • During the transition period, there were some class schedule changes, and except for that, we are continuing the program without significant changes or interruption to the academic schedule of the currently enrolled students. There are no plans for major program changes in the future.

 

  1. Provide support to international students
  • Based on the volatile situation in Japan, we have been providing information related to living conditions and health support in Japan, especially for international students. Besides that, we regularly check the current situation of the students and provide necessary assistance.

 

  1. Transfer student recruitment and candidate selection activities to online
  • Since March, all activities related to student recruitment such as university information sessions, demonstration classes, and other events, including candidate interviews, etc., have also been transferred to online. At the moment, all the application and selection processes are done online (some of the application documents, which require originals, are submitted by mail).

 

  1. Transfer all activities related to university management to remote work/home office
  • Since mid-April, based on the nationwide state of emergency declared by the government of Japan, Shizenkan University faculty and staff have been working from home, and all activities related to university management are conducted remotely.

 

These are the response measures taken by Shizenkan at the present moment; in the future we will continue to flexibly implement necessary measures, taking into account the situation with the spreading of coronavirus infection in Japan, the general conditions in society, as well as the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Regarding the resumption of campus activities, the decision will be based on the guidelines of protecting the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders, while taking into account changes in the environment.
