Japan’s Market Outlook: Global Investor Perspectives on Growth, Risk, and Opportunity

Speaker: Prof. Jesper Koll, Shizenkan University
Venue: On Campus (Nihonbashi, Tokyo) and Zoom
Date & Time: Monday, March 2nd, 19:00–20:30 (JST)

Japan’s capital markets are undergoing a major transformation. Since 2015, corporate governance reforms, the Stewardship Code’s emphasis on constructive dialogue between companies and investors, and ongoing market reforms led by the Japanese government and the Tokyo Stock Exchange have collectively reshaped the investment landscape. As a result, global investors are once again reassessing the attractiveness of Japanese companies. At the same time, shareholder proposals from overseas activist investors have been increasing year by year, and more Japanese companies are finding themselves under growing pressure to respond.

In this event, we welcome Jesper Koll, Adjunct Professor at Shizenkan University and a long-time investor in the Japanese market. Drawing in part on Shizenkan MBA’s course “What Is a Company For?”, he will explore:

  • The appeal of Japan’s capital markets from the perspective of global investors
  • The key challenges Japanese companies must address today
  • How Shizenkan positions leadership education within this broader context

This session offers an excellent opportunity for international professionals working in Japan to deepen their understanding of Japanese companies and capital markets, while also experiencing Shizenkan’s approach to leadership education. We warmly invite you to join us.
