As the publisher of Stanford Social Innovation Review Japan (SSIR-J), the Shizenkan Center for the Impact Economy is committed to advancing the impact economy by creating spaces where diverse perspectives meet, learn, and collaborate to reimagine the future of capitalism and social innovation — bridging academia and practice, and nurturing leaders capable of driving societal transformation.
As part of this mission, on October 19, SSIR-Japan hosted its “Social Innovation Morning” at the Shizenkan University campus, bringing together around 110 leaders and practitioners from business, philanthropy, academia, government, and the nonprofit sector.
The morning was filled with energy and curiosity as participants engaged in lively conversations over B Corp-certified coffee and cookies before diving into two rounds of in-depth breakout sessions.
- The Dawn of System Leadership
- The Innovator’s Tale of the Phoenix and Dragon
- The Strategic Value of Trust-Based Philanthropy
- The Future of Innovation Is Collective
- How can parent organizations build a “system of emergence” that sustains successive spin-offs?
- Let Communities Lead Research
Each session was rich in exchange and reflection — blending lived experience with theory to reveal new possibilities for collective impact.
The event embodied what the Shizenkan Center for the Impact Economy strives to create: a learning community where diverse forms of knowledge meet and co-create new social systems for the future.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, facilitators, volunteers, and the SSIR-J team for their contributions and passion.
